On 23 July 2016, the Paediatrics SIG GEC hosted the PhysiFun Teacher Training Programme at Amathemba Special Needs School for Children with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome in Table View. Esther Geretto (PhysiFun Physiotherapist) presented the training educating the teachers and assistants on various aspects of gross motor development including posture, activity class breaks, desk work adjustments, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Developmental Coordination Disorder, nutrition and making exercise fun! The Paediatrics SIG GEC Chair Chantelle van den Berg handed over all the PhysiFun equipment and training items including the neurodevelopmental range of pamphlets (infant to pre-school) to Amathemba Principle Kim Wright. Esther will also provide monthly follow-up visits for the main school from August – November 2016.
